Christmas Crafts

Denise and the girls wanted to do this new craft that Desirae learned. They took coloring book pages, stapled them to a sheet of construction paper and then punched with a pin along the lines.  Once done they cut them out and take them to the window.  The sun light coming through looks pretty darn cool!

So it's the day before Christmas!  I hope everyone is spending the time with their families and that you all have a great Christmas tomorrow!

Getting closer to Christmas!

Well, we are almost at Christmas!  I think all (but one) presents have arrived and are ready for Christmas Day!  The kids are all excited and counting down.  I think I am looking forward more to this Christmas than many of the others I can remember.  We haven't gone too crazy this year and I'm really excited to see the kids reaction (well, and Denise too!)

We bought the girls some nice dresses and Deanna and Desirae have been playing dress-up.  I had this idea for a photo and Deanna wanted to wear her new outfit so we setup this shot.  We did it toward the end of the day and her interest waned rather quickly but it was still cool and the shot was fun.

Anyway, I hope everyone is having a great holiday season and I hope you have an outstanding Christmas!

The pile of books...

Denise came up with a  cool idea for a photo using a bunch of her books.  She had found an image online that was the inspiration of the shot (although that one was a little darker in nature) so today we set about to make the shot we had in mind.  The biggest obstacle was a location.  So the best wall for the backdrop was in the living room, behind the couch...  So we moved everything out of the way (the living room is in total disarray right now) to include the couch and coffee table and started bringing in the books.  With the idea of using the image as stock we took most of the dust jackets off the books and faced all the bindings away from the camera.  Honestly I think it looks cooler not being able to read all the title of the books - it makes it more about Denise and her books.

Before we made the image above we did some sessions with Deanna by her self, Devin by himself and then a few with Deanna and Devin and Deanna and Denise.  I think we made some really cute images and it was a lot of fun.  I talked more about how I created the images over on my other blog at Duane Ellison Photography.
