Then another test...

So, today was the big day, the day for the last test to determine if Denise is going to have to go on insulin or not. Unfortunately this is not pass-the-envelope-day because they have to process the test result before they can tell us what everything means… How typical…

As I said before, they gave us the okay to wander around without having to stick around the office. While Denise was in the “lab” the kids and I stayed in the van and just hung out. Fortunately the weather at 0830 wasn’t too bad so we weren’t dying. I brought along my camera and snapped a few photographs that I thought turned out nice.

At first Desirae was in a bit of a mood, though Devin was upbeat and listening to music, and wasn’t happy that Denise went into the lab without her. So she was sulking in her car seat and I just couldn’t help but take this image. She can really pout!

Like I said, Devin on the other hand, was in a really good mood and wanted to roam around the van. We also have the iPod going so he was busy listening to his favorite tunes. Denise had put together a new mix and had a surprising number of good songs on it.

When Denise was done there we were on our way to find some breakfast! We were not really sure where to go but decided to try Crazy Ottos. It is a place we used to go to all the time and thought it would be good place to go. It turned out not to be very busy and the waitress was pretty good at helping Denise make sure she got the right stuff. Generally they are known for their super large breakfasts and they let Denise get a modified kids-senior meal since NOTHING else on the menu even came close to what she needed. Everything was pretty good – and on the list so as not to skew the lab results.

Once we finished there we headed to the other doctors office to check on getting another shoot that Denise needed to get. We had tried to coordinate this while en-route to Lancaster, but it proved to difficult to communicate with the people so we figured just going over there would be the best option. Well, I am here to report that those folks are pretty screwed up! First they said they couldn’t find the shot, then they said they had it (so we waited), then they changed their minds again and said they didn’t have it… Oh well, during all of this I did capture this picture of Desirae and Devin in the back of the van.

From there we just wasted time until she had to get back for the next blood sampling. We ended up driving into Palmdale and went to Best-Buy to look at new point-and-shoot cameras and televisions. Our TV is starting to die and it is only a matter of time before it poops out. Denise is looking at the Nikon Coolpix S1 and we have no idea what we are going to do about the TV, though I think we are leaning toward one of those 42” jobs.

From there we quickly headed back to Lancaster, since our time was running out, to the lab. This time we all piled into the office. Desirae really wanted to go with Denise for this part of the test and we figured that see blood getting taken might be a good idea so she might not be freaked out about it when her time comes. So we finished up and headed home. Kind of a long morning and it was nice to get home!

I really like the complete "family" aspect to your life - what a wonderful way to be living! I would like to have copies of the pictures you took - I need new pics of the kids around the house and those were really good. I especially like the picture of Devin and Desirae together. Still keeping my fingers crossed for a good test result.
